Publication terms and conditions

Word Smorgasbord is thrilled to publish the original work of young writers in elementary school, middle school, high school and college.

We publish new material on a rolling basis, year-round.

We accept previously unpublished submissions of poetry, nonfiction (up to 1,000 words) and flash fiction (up to 1,000 words).

If we accept your work for publication, we request one-time publication rights. Upon publication, all rights revert back to you, the author.

Unfortunately, we are unable to pay for general submissions at this time; however, we do offer a monetary prize for the pieces we publish that are winners of our contest, The Write On! Fiction and Poetry Prizes.

If your work is accepted for publication, you may choose if you would like us to list your full name, only your first name, or a pen name. We will ask for a photo and a short bio about you to accompany the piece, but if you would not like us to publish a photo and/or a bio, that is perfectly all right.

It is an honor to read your work! Happy writing!
